It's become more common to do work for a company with strong ties overseas. Sometimes, there are strict design guidelines to follow. Other times, more leeway is given. In both cases, it helps to listen closely and approach the project from multiple perspectives.
In the case of Conta-Clip, their German owners wanted a brochure that incorporated specific existing elements of which there were no original files. This meant redrawing them and making subsequent decisions that adhered to remote and rigid specifications.
